Alone Together
My cellphone has become my security blanket. Whenever I have
any negative emotion, I turn to my phone for escapism. My phone rests
comfortable at my side. I distract myself with podcasts and social media to
avoid acknowledging any pain. This distraction has an immediately gratifying
effect but the underlying feeling never disappears. It will inevitably return
if you unplug. Silence allows the feelings to surface. I believe this is a huge
reason why so many of us have such a constant grip on our devices.
